Sprucing Up The Bathroom

It's amazing what a couple coats of paint and some decorative upgrades can do to make a room look 100% better. It may not be perfect, but it'll still be better!
This is what our bathroom looked like when we first moved in a year ago this past July ~ very bland, complete with a bright white toilet seat on a dark maroon toilet, and a way beyond dirty tub with an equally disgustingly dirty set of sliding shower doors. At least this picture was taken after a thorough cleaning and floor mopping!
Fortunately, we were able to get a gently used, "new" replacement for our tub and wall surround, and got rid of any sort of shower doors! While the dark maroon toilet and sink are not at all what I would have picked, they're in great condition, so I'm making do with their color and worked that fact into my paint choice for the walls.
Over the last year, I've been able to put together items toward my bathroom theme, which is a kind of an Antique Rose best I can figure. Not everything matches perfectly, but most everything is quite similar....

This theme, together with the sink and toilet color, played the biggest part in why I chose Pink Whisper for the paint color on our walls.

Bathroom Gadgets

Things that would be great to keep my bathroom neat and organized.........
holder for inside cabinet door
This would be perfect for my daughter since I'm always finding the blow dryer tossed up on the back of the toilet!

tension pole caddy
I have to get one of these. With all of our different shampoos, soaps, body washes, razors, and creams, it's a balancing act when any one of us steps into the shower!

toilet paper holder
This is wonderful! My rack stands on the floor, and is always getting bumped into, or knocked over.
soap holder
Now this is nothing short of ingenious! My biggest pet peeve with bar soap is that it gets all soft and slimy from sitting in a little puddle of water.

sprays and brush organizer
I love this idea. A place for everything hair related.

towel rack
This is so much nicer than having the towels hung on the back of the door where they never really dry. And their wetness is up against the wood of the door. You'd need a bit of wall space and room for this, but it's a very practical solution!

Little Things Mean a Lot

Specimen A - The very inexpensive, bathroom cup holder we've been dealing with for months, trying to keep the cups balanced and upright on.

Specimen B - The reasonably priced Dixie bathroom cup holder I just purchased when I finally asked myself, "Considering that this product is quality made, stable, and holds the cups within itself, you aren't buying it because why?"

I'm so glad I finally got over myself and did what I should have done in the beginning! Why is it that we'll deal with the frustration of something for the sake of saving a couple dollars? I think I've learned my lesson on this one, and my family thanks me. ;)
