Rain, Rain, Go Away

Here it is, December 3rd, and miraculously we have no snow. A thing for which I'm thankful!

But a dreary, cold, rainy day such as we had today (and yesterday, and the day before),
does bring one's spirits low, despite the rejoicing of having no snow!

Thick, gray clouds rolled through all day long.

Raindrops gathered on the windows.

It was a perfect morning to enjoy our cozy fire!

For a while, not a bird or a critter dared creep out... Until this little Sparrow decided to pop out from his shelter under our front deck.

Then, one by one, others ventured out from their hiding spots, too.

When It Rains.....

......it pours! And it's been doing that a lot lately.

This picture of Romeo says it all.....He's a sad boy when it rains because there's no one outside and nothing going on, so what is there to bark at?? I, personally, love rainy days for this very reason!

When you can actually SEE the rain in pictures, you know it's coming down in buckets!

The concrete patio was literally a stage for thousands of dancing raindrops.

The only good thing about lots of rain is that it does the watering for me, and my gardens grow bushy and beautiful!

The bird feeder, which is normally overflowing with Sparrows, is left abandoned in spite of its roof for shelter.

Without any birds, Melissa just stares out the window. Notice the slight droop in her ears....Lol. No birds =  no exciting cat T.V. for this let down girl!

No need for bathing today, for which the Petunia's seem to be sadly agreeing.

Not even the determined, predictable Hummingbirds showed up!

Just the determined, pelting rain coming from the northwest, sounding like BB's hitting the window!

And who seems to be nonplussed by all these goings on?

Why Mr. Checkers, of course! I have no idea what he was thinking here, except that he may have been rubbing his paws together in anticipation of lunch. Food is about the only thing that motivates this old boy! Ha ha ha!

Making Do

Children have that uncanny way of learning to adapt and enjoying life, come what may!

Song Of A Robin

Had another rainy afternoon, but at least it was a gentle rain. When it stopped around dinner time, several robins perched nearby singing their lovely songs! Fills me with such a peace inside to hear the birds singing. They're so little and fragile, yet they are taken care of daily, and they exclaim their happiness to the world.

Bird In The Rain

While shopping the other day, I pulled into the parking lot and found a convenient space right next to the cart return, which I normally don't do. But I was caught in a bit of rain and thought to park a little closer to the store this time. While pulling through, this young sparrow sat chirping, in the rain, and I thought for sure it would fly away as soon as I came along side of it. Much to my surprise, it sat there still, even in spite of the noise of my window going down. So I grabbed my cellphone and snapped a picture of this adorably brave sparrow who seemed to want to bring cheer to my rainy day! ☺
(Eventually, as I stepped out of the vehicle, he felt it was best to fly a bit further away!)

When It Rains

.....we don't see the sun, but that doesn't mean it isn't there!

Change Of Plans

Well, I awoke with thoughts of starting to plant some of the lovely marigolds from my daughter. But, alas, Mother Nature has other plans! The skies are quite gray, and a steady rain is falling. I guess it's on to "Plan B", whatever that is.... I'm sure I'll find something else to do!

Rainy Today

But still mild and beautiful outside. It's the kind of rainfall that you don't mind stepping out with an umbrella and taking a walk in. ☺

Rain And More Rain

I gave up waiting for the rain to stop so I could do my errands.
The only good thing is that it's not a cold rain because
we're nearly at 70 degrees. The only bad thing is
that the wind has picked up considerably!

Raining as I left the house....

Raining as I arrived at the store.....

Raining while I shopped.....

And still raining as I prepared to head back home!

No sense trying to hold onto an umbrella......It's just one of those
windy, rainy spring days!

"Bad Hair Day" Alpacas

My sister sent me these pictures of her poor Alpaca, who've about had enough of all our rain.
The brown guy just cracks me up with his expressions!

Nighttime Storm

Just as I am getting ready for bed

lightening dances across the sky

and thunder rumbles in mild protest.

The air is saturated with the smell

of a sweet, springtime rain

and before long I hear it beginning to fall.

The thunder comes more insistently now

with each flickering flash of light

and I settle in for a sweet night of sleep

to the sound of pitter pattering rain.
