Lovely Days

What a pretty sunrise it was
as Charlie and I headed out bright and early
~ 5:45 a.m to be exact ~
to get him to his job at a local farm stand.

Today they were picking strawberries. These are some from the quart he brought home for me.
It will be strawberry season for the next two weeks. I can imagine we're going to be having the most delicious tasting strawberry shortcake with strawberries as fresh picked as these!!

Almost a year ago (already!) when we moved in, our house looked like this.

Now, after lots of work such as painting, mulching, weeding and planting (the list goes on and on), it's coming along nicely, and it looks like this:

Even after that picture was taken, I've been busy doing more....

We've mulched around the front trees - this one being my bird feeder station.

After

I've painted two benches that were left here, and in much need of attention.

Now I have lovely planters setting on them in the front flowerbed areas.

And I've placed a bit of this and that in my flowerbeds as well:

(The cute 2 tiered fountain has birds sitting on it)

Lastly, I hung an adorable lighthouse birdhouse in our peach tree (it has lots of peaches coming!)

About a week later I spotted nesting material in the house!

Much to my delight, we have a cute little House Wren pair that moved in! I spotted one of them who was busily tending to the nest. :)

I am awakened every morning to the beautiful song it sings, and continues all throughout the day!

Life is good. If you look around and take notice,
there's something beautiful to be found in every day we live! Wouldn't you agree?

Enjoyable Days

Sunshine, hot days, sweet smelling breezes and the song of birds....
I've been having some wonderfully enjoyable days!

Here's a few pictures to share:

While waiting on a mulch delivery, I'm sprucing up the front walkway with potted flowers, and Becca's handpicked rocks from a trip to the lake a few years back.

Last year my bird bath started to leak water through a few cracks that had developed in the bowl. So I resealed the bowl, scrubbed the base and set it out once again along the sidewalk in its old, familiar place.

I've turned over all the dirt in the flowerbeds, weeded and raked everything back into place. It looks so neat and tidy, and very ready for flowers!

While weeding, I found 5 "volunteer" Morning Glories sprouting up from seeds of last year's flowers....I transplanted them into their special place near the front porch step where they can grow big and beautiful up a trellis, instead of strings this year.

Last, but not least, I took a moment to enjoy the faint scent of lilacs that are just beginning to open on our bush. 2 short years ago, this bush was a twig that insisted on pushing up through the soil year after year from roots of a previous planting that had never been fully removed by the former owner of our townhouse. We decided to leave it be, and as it has grown, I've pruned it to keep it into a tidy, manageable size. This has caused it to triple the blooms from even just last year. Mmmm, what a heavenly, sweet smell they have!

And that about wraps up these last few enjoyable days for me.

☺

I Love Surprises!

While I was out in the flowerbeds working today, Dean had to run some errands. When he returned home, he motioned for me to come over to the vehicle. Much to my surprise, he pulled out a few things he'd bought to make things easier when I'm planting and watering!

First, he pulled out this claw tool to make loosening the soil and removing the weeds so much easier!

Then he pulled out this 100 foot long, never kink hose! Wow. He must know how I wrestle with that other hose we have. Lol!

Last of all, he placed a package of these 3 nozzles in my hands since the one I've been using finally broke. They're fabulous!

Aw, thanks for the awesome gifts, Honey!! Mwah!! (xoxo)

Newly Planted Flowers

It's just a beginning, but hopefully this year they'll fill out nicely and bloom with lots of pretty flowers all summer long! Last year, I had a rabbit that literally ate all the leaves off my marigolds, leaving nothing but the flower on the stem, and they didn't end up doing so good! He didn't seem to like the petunia's or dusty miller's, thank goodness. ☺

These are pictures from my long flowerbed along the sidewalk leading to my front door.

Fresh Cut Grass

Today was the first day of the spring season to smell our freshly cut grass.....Mmmmm! There's just something about it that gets me excited to check out the local garden center for flowers and get started on planting them in my flowerbeds! With the beautiful warm breeze and gorgeous sunshine today, I just may take a trip and see what I find!
