An Indoor Day ~ January 1, 2015

2016 was ushered in on cold winter winds with a light snowfall.
I'm beginning to miss my sunshine which we haven't had
in quite a few days!

Since it was best to hunker down indoors today,
I decided to get some things done.

One chore led to another chore, and another
and another.....

Do you ever have days like that?

But at least I feel good that nothing is hanging over my head
and urgently needs to be done.

Then I turned my attention to bird watching.....

....since there wasn't a whole lot of excitement going on inside!

But there was outdoors!

For the last couple of months, our Cardinals have all
but disappeared. It's been so odd to say the least!
Last year my feeders were filled with them.
But this year - NONE.
I think it has something to do with
the strange weather pattern.

So you can imagine my surprise when a small flock of Cardinals were spotted at the feeder!
Several males and at least one female, maybe two.

They seemed to enjoy staying out of the camera's view today. Geesh!

And the lighting outside was quite gray and dismal.
But that didn't deter me. ☺
I got a few- as best I could, anyways!

The Woodpeckers and, surprisingly, Bluebirds (who've been as scarce as the Cardinals)
were much more cooperative for my picture taking.

Even a Nuthatch dropped in to say hello.

My feathered friends always make me smile!

  1. Your new blog design looks great. Looks like you put a lot of work into it. The pictures of the birds are beautiful and so clear. The colors show nicely especially the blue bird on the welcome sign. I don't know the names of all the birds as you do. I think that is nice. Happy New Year friend.

    1. Thank you for your kind compliments, Mary! Blessings and a Happy 2016 to you!

  2. I agree with Mary! Lovely photos and super easy to navigate! :)
